Biography

Dr. Mohan received his Bachelor of Science (HONS) degree in Pharmacology from University of Hertfordshire, England, UK in 2002. During this time, Dr. Mohan was awarded a research scholarship to study and perform research in the USA. During his one-year research scholarship, Dr. Mohan worked on understanding genes responsible for antibiotic resistance in ocean samples collected from the South Pole.After graduating with his B.Sc., Dr. Mohan had a short stint in big pharma., with Pfizer Inc., focusing his research efforts on sexual health and urology discovery. After Pfizer, Dr. Mohan returned to the USA after being accepted onto a Ph.D. program in Biomedical Science in the Dept. of Pharmacology & Physiology, College of Medicine at Oklahoma State Univ. After publishing his work on opioid neuropharmacology and graduating with his Ph.D. in 2008 Dr. Mohan accepted a postdoctoral assistant position at the Univ. of Iowa. During his time in Iowa, Dr. Mohan concentrated on gaining valuable experience pertaining clinical pain, focusing on postoperative pain and discovery of novel targets to alleviate acute pain following surgery.Dr. Mohan served as the President for the North Central Florida Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) from 2013 – 2014. Dr. Mohan is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, American Heart Association and the International Society for Neuroimmunology. Dr. Mohan has taught and mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students during his research career. Dr. Mohan is currently a Advisory Board Member for the Sia Brain Awareness Foundation and a peer-reviewer for the J. of Pain Research and on the editorial board of the J. Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Mohan is also a coalition member for Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership (CCSAPP) here in Huntington, WV.

Research Interest

Dr. Mohan’s current research focus is on understanding the exposure of neurotoxic substances during development and how they affect neural plasticity and neurovascular of the brain.
